Catalyst is the driver, a suite actually consisting of the driver and the catalyst Control Center (CCC). That and that card has been relegated to legacy status by ATI and as such will only ever see a driver update every 3 months or so, and will never see a Windows 7 driver. The last official driver to support that card was the Catalyst 9.3.

Short of whatever driver that Windows 7 installs for that card you are pretty much SOL. You may find (or can do it yourself) a driver with a modded INF that will install on that card, but the driver won't work properly with it as there is no support in it.

Hi, I have a Radeon X1050 PCI-E card too and I'm having trouble installing it. The supplied driver CD is telling me to "setup my display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup" whatever that means as my Acer X193HQ monitor came with no driver and the acer site does not list a driver for it.

I also tried installing catalyst off AMD's site but it's made no difference.

    Any idea?

    Thanks :)

    Read the post before yours.

ATI has no, and will make no W7 driver for this card.

You need a new card, if you want to run W7 with proper graphics.

    Good luck

My test computer (used for beta testing purposes) has an X300, and I got mine working just fine with aero by downloading the driver at the ati site, and using winrar to extract the files and installing that way, bypassing the CCC install option.

    Good tip.

    Which driver version?

Well the card was lying around unused. If I can't get a working driver I'll just pop it on eBay and wait for a suitable Windows 7 compatible budget card to come along.

    Cheers!

I think it was 9.3, if I remember correctly.
