    Sapphire 5850 driver crashed and recovered BSOD 116

    Hello

    I am currently experiencing the famous BSOD 116 or atikmpag.sys driver failure.. Everytime I play a game sc2, mafia, cod4 etc. after playing for 2-5 min the game crashes then BSOD comes out or Driver failed and recovered.

    I updated to ATI 10.8 no help. I tried to roll back to 10.5 still no luck.. I reformatted my OS still no luck... I am lost here.. can anyone help?

    heres the dump file

    I would download CCleaner and DriverSweeper and run these removing all ATi drivers and such after you uninstall your ATi software. I know there are those who feel this is unnecessary but I like working with a clean platform. Download ATi version 10.3 of CCC and driver but do not install it yet. Uninstall the video driver and then reboot. It will boot up in 800x600 mode which is like being in SAFE Mode, then install the ATi CCC which will install your driver, I find 10.3 to be the most stable driver on the XFX 5870 XXX Edition I have an should be of benefit until they fix some of the issues they are currently having.

    hello!

    sory for the late reply.

    @fish
    yup i always use those softwares everytime I uninstall a driver. sometimes the card doesnt produce any error but when i try to push the card like doing a stability test furmark after 5-10 min it freezes and then restarts or bsod. Since my motherboard has 2 pcie x16 slots i tried to reseat my card to the 2nd pcie slot then wala no more crashes. so im wondering if my 1st pcie slot is broken?

    @solar
    I have the latest directx update. I even downloaded the directx 9.0c and installed it. hmmm I think there is something wrong with the mobo.

    anymore ideas?

    Sorry, pressed the wrong keys. I know this post is old but to Pyar. Is the second lane on your motherboard also x16? And try removing one of your RAM modules. I know it sounds stupid but one of my computers had the same problem and it seemed to work. F knows why though.

    have you tried putting it back in slot 1? also noticed the ram you are using is it the ripjaw 1600/2000mhz ram if it is there have been reports of it causing problems. A friend of mine was using it but it kept crashing his PC so i swapped it for the ram i had, same latency different manufacturer and not the 1600/2000 just 1333/1600 and no more problems.
