    PhysX Card

Hey, my friend gave me a 8800 GT Alpha Dog edition card, as he bought a new one, and i currently have the gtx 295. Do you guys think its worth having a 8800GT as a PhysX card?

There's no harm in having one. If you have the space and the extra power connector for it, then might as well put it in. FPS will still drop a bit in some Physx games, as the main GPU is still doing extra work to process the data the Physx card has done. Will have to see what you think of it. Try some Physx based games like Mirror's Edge, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Mafia 2 if you can.

I recommend "Mirrors Edge" because when glass shatters it is, well, "PhysX" technology. and pretty much the best way to test your GPU. If FPS doesn't slow down, you're in, luck.

    The game is beautiful.

If you're talking about the old Ageia dedicated Physx cards, then they're not around anymore. Nvidia bought Ageia Physx and turned it in to Nvidia Physx. You can use any Nvidia card from the 8 series and up as a dedicated Physx card now. You just set which card processes Physx in the Nvidia control panel.

The Geforce GT240 is the most recommended card to use as a standalone Physx card at the moment, as it's fairly cheap. Though more powerful cards will be better of course. Just the GT240 seems appealing as it doesn't need any additional power connectors etc.

Sorry to jump in as this is not my thread. Can Nvidia cards be used as PhysX cards along side ATI cards?
