    windows 7 + geforce go 7400

hi, i have installed windows 7 32 bit on my sony vaio laptop but the resolution is too low. the nvidia website says that my graphics card (7400) does not support windows 7. i really want to keep windows 7 on the machine but i need the driver that is not avalible. is there a way of spoofing the driver so that windows 7 works with my graphics card ?

Welcome to Seven Forums. If your card is a Geforce Go 7400 (it's listed o the site) You might be able to modify the .inf file by using this program. NVIDIA MobilityModder The mod tool can be downloaded from the bottom of the page.

First you need to download the latest driver for your card from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Then follow the directions on the mod site and install the driver. If you have any problems please post back either way that way if your successful others can benefit. Thanks. Fabe

OMG WOOOOOOOOOOO. FINALLY I WORKED IT OUT. Anyone with this problem where your sony vaio does not recognise the geforce go 7400 graphics card in windows 7 and uses the default motherboard graphics used this link below, no need for to do anything else just run windows 7 with the VGA graphics card and download and install the files. read below on how to do this !

    NVIDIA Forceware 197.25 Released - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

just download the driver + the inf file and insert modified inf into the driver folder and run the setup.exe file and thats it. let it do the rest and then restart and BOOM !!!

Thanks to everyone that contributed on this post !

    Still not working

    Hi

I did what you did and it worked I now have installed go 7400.

But there is still one issue, my card is now showing that it has only 64 MB instead of 128 MB, so when I try to run games, the are shaking and in some cases al letters appear double.
Anyone elese faced this problem and solved it

Old thread, but still darned useful!

    arsenalbates:

Your last post solved the screen resolution issie for me on a dv6174cl with GeForce 7400. It would previously only show 800×600 or 1024×768 as the screen sizes.

thanks a ton for putting your solutions up on the forum. Cannot begin to explain his much frustration you've helped me avoid. May your tribes increase! ...metaphorically speaking...Thanks, Avi
