Sure it is removing them and not replacing them with what it thinks is a better driver? Intel video should install the Intel video software. After the reboot, go into add/remove programs and see if it is still in there.

Pretty sure - because it is hard to imagine how the lowest of all generic VG drivers can be considered better than anything

I don't think the other specs of the 2600 are going to get you into Windows 7. Was it able to run Vista?

My x1650 Pro ran Vista with Full Aero - but it also had 512 MB DDR3, so that helped a lot....

The 2600 is on the low end but IIRC it still *does* support Vista, maybe not with Aero, but it should.

I think the hardest part s the drivers - Vista on lappys is dead picky for drivers, and this is from that age when you *had* to get drivers from your manufacturer....

but a x1650 is a way higher card and has actually memory...

we are talking about IGP now....

this is a whole other ball park.... (i know you know...lol)

where also talking about a p3 here...

very low end (by today's standards... no offense i got IGP too....)

the x3100 is one of the first and and one of the only ones that got the upgrade from 9 to 10 support..

i believe there might be a way to update the drivers though

try to do it from the device manager

right click the graphics driver and click on update...

    go to update driver software

browse my computer for driver software point it to the folder where the inf's are... and it should update by itself....

Lol true, the x1650 Pro was more of a beast than people gave i credit for - it just *quickly* overshadowed by the x19xx series, so was considered, for the most part, a mid-level card at best.

And, yeah, you're right, since the actual CPU is a Celeron, this card is still going to be outdated compared to my x1650 by at least a generation, plus you can add another generation due to it being integrated, as you reminded me....

Your graphics controller is not supported under vista so it will not work with Windows 7.

Your machine is not geared for an upgrade from XP.

It's ok. I can handle the resolution. Everything works fine its just everything is so big.
My reboot time is 208 seconds on a good day :).
But despite the spec of the laptop i think it does well to actually run windows 7. Response times for opening programs are bareable (not as fast as my main computer but theres a huge difference :P). Only problem really is the resloution. Other than that it's A-OK.

EDIT: BTW i also installed it on my main computer :). Looks V nice, ill grab my WEI and post it in a mo
