Problem with movies in Windows 7
Hy everyone.
Long story short, last week I've decided to install Windows 7 Ultimate x32 on my PC.First of all I want to say that I'm very pleased with it, my computer runs smoothly and looks "healthier" than ever, games runs great with no stucks, freezes, errors etc. But, as everything that looks to be to good to be thrue it isn't.
So I have a very anoying problem with movies.
Simptoms:
2 horizontal flikery stripes appear on my display in every movie that I play. One at the top of my monitor and one at the bottom, they are thin and collored black and white.Ocassionaly a third stripe appears on the middle. This is much thiker than the other two.Besides that the image is cristal clear, movie has no delay what so ever, but when I click on the players bar to fast forward the movie, the player freezes, a error bluble messege appears near the clock on the task bar("display adapter has stopped working but recovered") and the windows theme is changed to basic. After this I can only close my player from task manager and everything comes back to normal.
Things that I tryed so far:
- 4 fresh installs of Windows, as I thought that I'm doing something wrong.
- tryed 3 different video adapters - an ATI Radeon x1650 DDR2 512MB 64bit, an Nvidia GF 7400 GT DDR2 256MB 128bit and my actual video adapter an Gainward Nvidia GF 9500 GT DDR2 1024MB 128bit - the stripes appear on all.
- reinsall Windows Xp just to make sure that I didn't tryed 3 bad video adapter - in XP the stripes doesn't appear.
- installed lastet software for my grafic card from Nvidia site, and also tryed the software from my CD.
- another monitor.
I've also looked for solutions to solve the display error as I think this is the main problem, even if it appears just only I play movies.I found a few, but couldn't do them exactly the same.I'll explain why.Every solution that I found required to uninstall the video adapter, reboot and install the lasted video software.Well, after every uninstall and reboot windows automaticly installes my video adapter.
If I uninstall and don't reboot, the video adapter simply disappears from device manager and doesn't even appear under the other devices tab.If I try to run the software setup, beying it the one from the CD or the one from Nvidia website I get an error messege - "Setup didn't find any driver compatible with this software" - and than it aborts. If I reboot and windows install de adapter, than both setup work, so I can only use then as a update and not for a clean install.
So, as far as I can tell, the automatic install may be the problem, as it's the only thing that is different between XP and 7.Xp doesn't know to install the video adapter and gives a default one as Win7 installs it's own software.
I appeal to guys as a last hope, as I have my nerves streched to the limit and I'm out of ideeas.
The only thing that I can think about is to create a partition and install XP on it, and use it just for movies.Or to create a virtual machine with XP and use it for movies, but I'm don't like the ideea to have two OS on my PC.
Any help is much apreciate.
