2nd graphics card is running hot while the other is fairly cool?

Ok so heres an update:

I took out the card that was getting hot, the "old" 9800GT and realized the heatsinks were fairly dirty and I guess this was the only fan I didnt clean. Disassembled it, cleaned it throughly & put it back together into the same PCIx1 slot.

It seems that the GPU 1 is running about 13*C higher than the other one... any ideas what else I could do and why the same exact card is running this much hotter?

I have only a single monitor on PCIx1 & the other two are on the cooler running card.

It seems this slot was running hotter around 58*C on its own earlier before I even put the 2nd card back in?

Is this temp too high to where I should worry?

I've got the fan speeds on 100/max.

Should I hit the Sync button on the right?

I've attached two pics, 1st shows GPU temps & 2nd pic shows fan speed

Can I increase the Core Clock speed or Shader Clock, or will this make the card run hotter?

But now I've switched them to see what happens & they both seem to be running at similiar speeds, but still around 55*C

Is this too hot? Should I be worried? Whats the threshold?

What about overclocking the core, will that make them both run hotter?

I've attached another pic of the temps with the graphics cards now switched. So the old #1 is now #2 etc.

It seems PCIx1 is running hotter regardless of which card is in there?

Why is GPU1 almost twice as high in usage percentage (56%) with only 1 monitor, when GPU2 actually has 2 monitors in it and running at 24% usage?

Yes OC'g will normally create more heat as you are raising voltage even more. It seems that looking around for others with these cards they report slightly higher temps as normal with some bursting to high seventies and low eighty Celsius. I think you are ok but I'm not the expert on gpu cards.
Google safe temps and list your card and do some reading and judge for yourself. I think you ok but it's odd why one is hotter than the other. Read up on OC'g as well as I found that when I pushed my CPU with a modest OC it's temps actually fell a little ?

I'll leave the core clock where its at in case it starts to get hotter.

But what about the Shader clock, or memory clock? Would I benefit from increasing either?

Its good to hear that the majority of the other users out there are experiencing higher temps also, so at least its not me.

And it seems to be holding strong @ 55*C for the old one and 50*C for the new one.

Seems to fluctuate up around 60* from time to time, but from what you said with other reaching high 70's & low 80's Celsius, it seems I'm doing better than most now and the system seems to be stable.
