From a temp. stand point I think you ok and only further study will give you insight on the OC'g. My GTX260OC is designed to be pushed but I haven't yet. Some day I hope to SLI but my system is so puss right now there isn't much need. Here you go something else I found "proceed at your own risk"

Ok I checked that out, seems he just gives ranges you should keep your over clocked card at.

But it doesnt explain what increasing shader clock & memory clock will do?

Am I correct in seeing that his temp actually dropped when he increased his core speed?

Sorry I didn't watch that closely, but I wouldn't be surprised as I mentioned before my CPU core temps dropped when I OC'd up to 10%.

Ok so I set my cards to what he had his in the video.

I believe I then needed to "test" the overclocking with ATI Tool

Which I did

Tried teh 3D view & it seemed to crash at the numbers he suggested. I tried dialing back the core clock but it was still crashing.

I reset the settings and upped the fan speed to 100 again manually and tried the 3d view & it worked fine.

So I guess I cant overclock mine? I only had the core clock to 650?

What is your PSU rated at? The 9800's don't get 12v connections right they power only off the PCI-e?

Good makes sense. I will tell you that if the PSU is around 500-600w you may be starving the cards a little. Use this PSU calculator and then next time you open your case check out it's capacity. Understand that even that won't tell the whole story. But with a mfg. and model # you can research it and it's design. The PSU is the heart of your computer and one of the first things to run out of juice as we start modifying things !

Hey this is my PSU:

It's not just the total wattage, you need to look at the amps supplied by the 12v rails. Especially if one of the rails is lesser amps than the other. With two video cards it can be a particular concern. If each card needs 22A max and you only have 38A of 12v...

(Of course the cards don't need their rated amps all the time, you can actually get away with it for a while but when specifically running a stress test or a game that fully unilizes the card then you could be over drawing the PSU)
