Intel® HD Graphics vs Samsung Syncmaster 2243nw: The Nightmare

    The scenery:

Display Adapter: Intel® HD Graphics 15.17.12.2226
(8.15.10.2226) driver installed. (latest, dated October 2010)

    Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 2243nw

    Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate

    --------

This last week has been a nightmare... All because
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and can't get the combination
of the aforementioned resources to work.
Everytime I combine the latest (or even the one before that one)
Intel® HD Graphics driver and the Samsung 2243nw, the screen goes
blank and I have to enter in safe mode to uninstall the graphics
adapter reboot again to find a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and a
Generic PnP Monitor and a subsequent very poor resolution.
I've tried all the recipes you folks published in some of your threads (Pagina de Afaceri included and even a driver made by Zer0r) to no avail.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks a bunch.

Sounds like the monitor might be connected to the computer with an adapter that's interfering with EDID data transmission or the monitor EDID information is either wrong in the monitor or being interpreted incorrectly by the Intel driver. Install this and see what capabilities the monitor is reporting EnTech Taiwan | Utilities | Monitor Asset Manager

    Your report shows

    Data source.............. Registry-Active

Were there any "Real-time" items in the Display IDs box in the upper left region of the Monitor Asset Management window or were the Registry values all you could get?

You can edit what you have using MonInfo, uncheck the preferred timings and Create INF. That will make a custom monitor driver file that will use only VESA standard resolutions that the Intel chip should handle. Just use device manager to install the driver. You'll have to manually select it because it's unsigned. If you need step by steps I can provide...
