No worries Mike wouldnt have got this far without you. As for your thinking along the lines of hardware is there anything i can try to test this or anything in ccc i can tone down that may help ive never even used it to be honest.
The laptop is only a year old so im still under warranty if there is a problem

Have you checked that it isn't overheating? Cleaned out the air intakes in necessary?
As far as an updated driver Acer may not have one for your specific model but I had a quick look at the one available for this one,

it has a new AMD card in it and the Intel graphics is integrated into the CPU instead of on the motherboard, but if you go here,

and use the above model to search, the driver is dated from July of last year. I had a quick look at it and it has both the AMD and Intel driver in it (back to the integration of them for the switchable graphics), and enough DevID's for both AMD and Intel that there is a very good possibility it will work on yours.

Ok this is where im at. Tried the modder you gave the link for and no joy with that either.Ive just been looking at drivers for other model too and there all 1 or 2 years out of date also so maybee its not that after all.
How can i tell if its an overheating issue.
I have already taken the vacuum and a tin of compressed air to the intake and exhaust oulets and cleaned as much as possible.I did install GPU Z to check on the temps but to be honest was unsure about what it all meant.Have added a couple of screen shots if you could take a look for me please the first is idle the second is whilst playing and when the stuttering starts

It is overheating, that is why your graphics are "stuttering".
Get it replaced under warranty.

the mobile hd 4500 isnt suited for gaming and like the guy above mike conner says it is probably over heating and starting to fail. you are putting too much stress on the gpu which isnt very high performance to begin with
