Windows 7: Geforce GT220 issue :S

Geforce GT220 issue :S

Hi, I recently upgraded my motherboard, RAM and cpu and performed a clean install of Windows 7 professional x64. However to do this, since my disk drive broke on me, I plugged my hard drive into my brothers computer and installed from there. I also plugged in my graphics card, Geforce GT220, and installed the drivers from the CD which are quite old now. With my brothers motherboard and display there were no issues and everything worked fine. However when I plugged everything into my motherboard and booted up windows explorer.exe crashed instantly. It repeatedly did this after every reboot.

I tried booting up in safe mode, which worked fine, and from there removed the nvidia drivers. These drivers proved to be the issue as the boot worked fine afterwards. I should add that my brothers motherboard is the same as mine, only his supports USB 3.0.

So my question is, what should I do to fix the issue?

Edit: I also get Blue screen BAD_POOL_HEADER sometimes. I have updated the BIOS, next step chipset drivers.

My specs are:

AMD phenom II X2 550 @3.1ghz
Asus M4A88T-M 880G
DDR3 corsair 2x2GB
Inno 3D geforce gt220
WD caviar green 1TB

Windows 10 Education 64 bit

When you installed on the other PC windows 7 loaded the drivers for that hardware. Now that you have moved the hard drive to another PC its trying to load drivers for hardware that isn't there. Not a good thing. I'd start over and borrow an optical drive to replace your broken one or install from a USB thumb drive.

Windows 7 Professional x64

Hi, this was not entirely the case, since our hardware is nearly identical. What the issue turned out to be was a RAM issue, which was either inserted in the wrong channel or not inserted properly. Thanks for the help :)

OK, it sounded like it might be a driver problem. In any case I'm glad you got it sorted.

Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit / XP Home sp3

I'm glad it all worked out but the point being made still stands "almost the same" and "exactly the same" are not the same.
It's always a good idea to install your OS in the system it will be running in.
