Hello Kraze,
According to that, you are using/have a Intel integrated graphics chip instead of a graphics card.
If this is for a store bought OEM computer, what is your computer brand and model number?
If it's a self-build computer, then what is the brand and model number of your motherboard?
ASUS k42j, what about the nvidia graphics?
Kraze,
What's the last letter of your model number K42J? ?
The link below from Asus shows several different models that start with K42J.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
You should have this below as your graphics chip then.
NVIDIA GeForce 310M, 1GB DDR3 VRAM
Did you install the latest NVIDIA 266.54 WHQL driver? If not, then here is the download link from NVIDIA.
Download homepage:
NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search
Lastest driver version download:
NVIDIA DRIVERS 266.58 WHQL
Hope this helps. :)
Don't be surprised if they either don't install or if the do don't work properly. From the "supported products" tab that Shawn posted,
of which yours falls into that category with its integrated Intel graphics (integrated into the CPU) in addition to the Geforce 310M,Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Notebooks - ASUS K42JC
All of this means that you will have to get both the Nvidia (which surprisingly is only a few days old, date Jan. 19, 2011) and Intel driver from Asus in order for both to work as they should; the Intel for low power use and apps, the Nvidia for games or apps that need more graphics power than the Intel provides.
See this thread here from someone with a similarly spec'ed Asus laptop and it took both the Intel and Nvidia driver for things to work properly,
Need detailed help about Nvidia GeForce 310M
