Windows7 does not detect second monitor

    Hi all,

This is incredibly frustrating having spent around 5 hours on this already .

I have just bought two Acer V243hl monitors with one Nvidia Geforce7300LE card.

On startup, the bios displays on both.

Then when windows starts up, it only uses 1 monitor.

    What I have tried:
I have tried to detect displays both through the display control panel and the Nvidia control panel and nothing is detected. Both monitors manage to display correctly if I start up with only 1 plugged in. For some reason the second display (plugged into the DVI of the 7300LE graphics card) only displays at a lower resolution.

Please help, I need my second monitor working!

I am clueless. Could it be to do with the fact that I have identical monitors?

When you right click the desktop and select screen resolution do both monitors show up there? If so by clicking on them the resolution should be independently adjustable

It's been quite a while now but on a company laptop I had to sort out a similar issue of one monitor being at a lower resolution. In Nvidia control panel there should be an option to select custom resolution. I had to manually set the resolution to the specified value there.

I am sorry if I was not clear enough, but the problem is that I only have 1 monitor displaying. I need to get the other monitor to work. Please read above.

Does that card support dual monitors? Not all video cards do even if they have multiple outputs. I would think it should but it might not hurt to make sure before you go any further.

    Hi all,

I still have the same laptop. I had Windows XP and it was OK to detect a second monitor (the beamer for instance)
Once I changed my system to Windows 7; No recognition at all for a second monitor in the screen resolution properties !!

    Any clue , please ?

    Best,

alkharfa, you'd likely get more replies if you had started your own thread instead of bumping this old one. Did you install the latest chip-set and video card drivers? Also what version of Windows 7 is it?
