    3 displays

    Hey Guys,

Am I right in thinking I shouldn't of purchased this item XFX HD 5450 512MB DDR2 VGA DVI HDMI Out PCI-E Graphics.. | Ebuyer.com. I ordered it to try and get displays working. One HDMI, The second DVI and the third VGA. Im having trouble getting the third monitor working.

The reason I purchased this card was that it stated it supported ATI Eyefinity. However, im confused and don't know what to try now. What do you guys reckon, or should I send it back and get a card with display port. IM confused.

Any help will be muchly appreciated.

You bought the wrong card. Doesn't help that ebuyer has the wrong specs listed for it though. For Eyefinity at least with a card from XFX you need this one,

    XFX HD 5450 1GB SDDR3 VGA DVI Display Port Out PCI-E.. | Ebuyer.com

as that feature is only available on one of their models. Straight from XFX's page for the 5450,

    ATI Eyefinity Requirements

    • Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating system (Eyefinity is not supported in Windows XP)
    • A graphics card with at least one native DisplayPort output
    • Display with native DisplayPort

    and/or

    • Use of an certified active DisplayPort adapter is required to convert the DisplayPort output on the graphics card to an output compatible to the display when more than two displays are used in a multi-display configuration (available for purchase separately)

    • ATI Eyefinity technology with support for up to three displays - only supported on HD-545X-ZAF2 with DisplayPort (1,4)
    • ATI Stream technology (2)
Graphic Cards - ATI Radeon HD 5000 - ATI Radeon

Ah that's great. Thanks stormy13. Think im going to email the site. What I plan on doing now then is getting it the card you suggested and also a Display Port to HDMI Adapter Converter. Would this work? Thanks for your help again.

Yes. As I understand it from what Shawn said here (and read elsewhere),

    Lack of displayport cables

it also depends on whether you want to run it with Eyefinity or just as 3 individual displays as to whether you need an active (for Eyefinity) or passive (as 3 individual) adapter.

No promises but something like this,

StarTech DisplayPort to HDMI Video Adapter Converter | Ebuyer.com

    should work then.
