    No Brightness Option.

I have a laptiop and am not able to adjust the brightness. The keys on the keyboard don't work to do it. There's no slider in the power plan options (Twitpic - Share photos and videos on Twitter). There's also no option under the Change Advanced Power Plan Settings, only the setting to turn off display after x minutes.

    What can I do?

You should be looking for the intel graphics control panel.
Brightness and gamma corrections would be located there.
If you can't find it. It may be the graphics drivers are not installed properly.
    Intel® Driver Update Utility

That tool should help with detecting your hardware and updating the intel components.

Are you sure it's the 237CA and not the 327CA?

The reason I ask this is the only 237 is US, not CA :)

    List Here

    Sorry, forgot to add...

The reason I suggest the Quick Launch software is it may control your Brightness/Contrast keyboard controls

I do in-fact have a HP G62-237CA. Those brightness options (in Intel CPanel) don't control the computer in the same way. I used to have the option in the power options.

The brightness keys work with Ubuntu... which I had installed in a dual-boot form. But I have removed Ubuntu and now just use Windows... (which came w/ the comp).

The brightness keys worked when I got the computer and now they don't.

I noted that when I had the computer running on battery and turned down the brightness on Ubuntu, I restarted into windows and the brightness was down in windows. When I go back to Ubuntu turn the brightness up and come back to windows, the brightness was up.

But now I have uninstalled Ubuntu, hoping that would fix the problem. It didn't.

After reinstalling the driver, the brightness options are back! Yay!
