Graphical Glitches with 9800GT
Hello. First post here.
I recently bought and assembled a new computer for myself. At first it worked flawlessly but as of a few days ago I started experiencing graphical glitches (It started around the 15th, just as Shogun 2 Total War was released. In fact I noticed because of it). The glitches involved textures stretching out beyond their boundaries 'into infinitum' not only of models but also the sky and ground.
I figured it was a Shogun 2 issue seeing as the game is new and there are a number of bugs related to Nvidia cards in it. But I was then surprised when Crysis Warhead, a game which I've played way before Shogun 2 came out, displayed a similar error as pieces of models suddenly stretched out in the same manner. The game runs fine fir a good deal of time, but then it glitches once, and then something that I can only describe as a "cascade failure" happens because suddenly everything glitches out.
The issue isn't limited to games. For some reason when I end up leaving the game in question, I'm left with pixels on my normal screen, flashing different colors, and either flooding my screen until it changes somewhat like, by moving a window around or using the start menu.
I've done the basic. I tried installing new drivers on my machine, as well as checking DirectX (although I doubted it had anything to do with it). I then tried removing the drivers completely and installing them again, just in case of a faulty driver install. I checked my case for dirt but aside some small dust which I quickly removed, there was nothing worth notice. (although I did notice a certain pattern around the top surface of my video card. You know those remnants of glue paste left behind when you remove a sticky from a surface? It looked like that, around the pins. It didn't seem like paste though)
All the parts are new, but I'm wondering if my video card didn't happen to come damaged in some way.
For reference, here are my current specs.
i5 Quad-core 2.1ghz
4gb ddr3
nvidia 9800gt
I guess that's all that really matters for this case. HD size or others wouldn't really play a part. But if you need more info, please tell.
Let me know if you guys think of something.
