Windows 7: Slow and Jerky Graphics

07 Jul 2009   #11

Windows 7

I don't do games. I do a little graphic editing with Photoshop but I'm having no problems there. I am mainly looking for smooth playback of video files. At present, it makes no difference what app I use to view them with, they are jerky!

Windows 7

I just got the PNY GeForce 9800 GT card this morning and installed it. It raised my video experience index to 5.8 from 5.3.
Video playback is *still* jumpy! What do I throw my *next* $100 away on now or shall I just stick with XP and forget Windows 7 and Vista?

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Hello mewnlite

Just to add to this discussion, I have an ATI HD 5770 1GB and I am also suffering with jumpy videos.

My full specs are a follows:

Gigabyte GA-EP45DS3P Motherboard
Gigabyte GV-R577D5-1GD Gfx Card
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3Ghz
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
8GB DDR2 Ram (4-4-4-12)
2 x WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA HDD
LG SuperBlue BD Drive
Dell SP2309W Monitor

All my Drivers are upto date including BIOS, Chipset, Monitor, Gfx, Devices, Software etc.

I am having problems with Movies which are jumpy, i.e. every couple of seconds it looks as though a frame is dropped, this happens all through the Movies, and makes them very uncomfortable to watch.

I have tried Quicktime, Media Player, VLC, Media Center and all have the same problem.

I have disabled my VC and done a new clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate but still have the same issues.

Has anyone a solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance

Windows 7

I eventually reinstalled Windows 7 and installed the K-Lite Mega Pack 135 (a really old version) and have had no problems since. Most all of my players and my TV software work fine with it. I had one of my posts deleted in a Sage TV forum for mentioning K-Lite since I guess someone has deemed it illegal. All I know is that it is readily available on the net and that it works. A newer version (345) does NOT work as the jumpiness returned with that version.
