To avoid the full 3D clocks, they must both be the same resolution. LCD/LED mix shouldn't matter.

Um...(3D clock)?ok, the 1 is a samsung 23inch lcd 1920x1080 2ms responce. The other is a 24 inch lg led 1920x1080p 2ms responce, so it is basicaly sort off the same screens...So thanx for the replie,it should work then, right?

Cards have different power states and clock speeds (2D/3D) depending on the required load. When in 2D clock speeds, or idle state, this state also uses less voltage. (why it runs cooler)

The 'full speed' issue is caused because the card does not downclock to 2D clock speeds/idle state and stays at full 3D clock speeds and higher voltage (why it runs hotter.)

I was initially under the impression that the same resolution was all that mattered. So I've been doing a bit more research about this and I'm not sure if just having the same resolution is enough:

If you run two different monitors at the same resolution it won't keep the video card at idle as each monitor has different internal timings and the card will run at full load. This is something we think is interesting and most people still don't know about it!
From here:

So it's quite possible that despite both monitors using the same resolution, the full speed issue may still be present

Probably why everyone I know with double/triple monitor set ups has 3 zackly the same monitors not a combo of different brands.

Stupid Stupid Laptop Battery
Hi, My laptop has had 1 year of what I would call "heavy" use. Although it has been plugged into the wall all its life (1 year) the battery is now dying in under 10 minutes. This really sucks as it means I lose the portability of my laptop. I don't have any way of getting money for a new laptop at...
