ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 Modded Driver Help

    Hello,

I have another older laptop from 2008 I use from time to time. Anyways, it comes with the ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 GPU. The Graphics driver it has is version 8.x. Although the latest driver version for ATI GPU's is 11.x. I can't install this version as it is supposedly not supported by ATI. So could anyone help me get or make a modded driver for the GPU so that I could run the 11.x driver.

    Thanks,
    Slasher

That GPU is essentially a Mobility X1350,

    ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 - Notebookcheck.net Tech

and as such has been relegated to legacy status, that is why there is no support in the latest drivers for it even when modded. The best you're going to get for it is the last Vista driver,

    ATI Catalyst

It has both the 32 bit and 64 bit drivers in a single package, so you're going to have to make sure you mod the correct INF.

So it's impossible to install the 11.x drivers on this GPU?

Are you sure? Because I have heard from some people on internet that a modded driver will work on almost ANY GPU, besides, the ATI Mobility Radeon X2300, is only like 3 years old.

Adding the DevID makes it so the driver can be installed, it doesn't add support in the driver itself. If you think you can still get the latest driver to work with it try using this,

Mod Cat ver. 0.4.0.0 - Installation Notes

which even the guy that made it didn't add support for the older DirectX 9 GPU's in for use with the newer drivers.

The Mod Cat won't work for my laptop. Mod Cat ony supports Windows XP 32 bit. The laptop I have is running Windows 7 32 bit.

Ok, I am going to install the legacy driver. Although, how do I install the driver without installing Catalyst Control Center, as I have no use for it?

Do a custom install and uncheck it.
