    Resolution problems

Hey guys I have a 17" Monitor, before on XP when i changed resolution it always fit my screen completely now that i have Windows 7, when i change my resolution APART from 1280x1024 which is RECOMENDED, the screen doesn't completely fit the monitor, on every other resolution there is black space on top and bottom and somtimes side of the screen that is unused- anyone know how to fix this problem?

I downloaded the latest drivers from NVIDIA for my 9400 GT graphics card but that didn't help. PLEASE HELP!

    Perhaps i should've posted here.
Im running A 7 & XP dual boot,i can't get 1024x768 resolution, whenever i switch to that,my picture goes and my monitor says out of signal range.
Im using an ATI Radeon HD2400 Pro.
I've downloaded the driver for it,but it's not working.

    Hey Solnx

Is the monitor WS? what refresh rate are you running at? since 1280x1024 works have you tried something lower to see if it fits? could you tell us waht rates display what problems/ Like 1440x960gives you borders on top and bottom or on the sides or both.

You monitor is set to 1:1 pixel mapping, and it's respecting it.

Of courseno driver not working. You have to get the right driver (give us your computer specs and we might be able to help) and install it for the monitor to work.

    Waiting for info

I'm guessing it's the refresh rate, a lot of the time higher resolutions lower the refresh rate which causes displacement of the screen. Though I'm just guessing, you could try forcing a res but it's not recommended. I've got a 22" and if I use 1600x1200 it locks at 75, though I know others are supported I don't complain because it looks fine, and every other res below supports 75hz but if i change it the borders become off. I would say get Nvidia, but that's my opinion not yours
