    Multimonitor question ...

I have my main monitor hooked up using a DVI-D cable and a second monitor hooked up using an HDMI cable.

The system and nvidia now see my main monitor as monitor two, and the extra monitor as one.

When I use only one monitor hooked up with the HDMI cable it blinks off and on like it is switching modes. It is annoying so that is why I use the main monitor with the DVI-D cable.

It seems like the video card (gtx480) treats the HDMI port as the main display port. Is that true?

Question is why doesn't the system see my main monitor as monitor one and the other monitor as two? Note that I can't switch them around in Window or nVidia CP.
    Thanks in advance.

Yup! Purchases another DVI-D cable and all is ok.

Yes, HDMI is a newer (and better, considering it carries sound) option. The card does not recognize which monitor YOU believe to be the 'main' monitor, and I don't believe windows or Nvidia allow you to change which monitor it selects. I would recommend just moving the monitors to the other cables to coincide with which ones you want to be 'main' and 'secondary'.

-well, granted they both support both ports, as they should (if I were to guess)
