Third, clean up the confusion. Did you install a dedicated graphics card? What card, specifically, did you install and is it still installed?

    (vga) monitor displays no signal

OK, from the beginning. I went to Dell Support to update my onboard graphics card. This the support page with all the latest updates. (My PC TAG #4H8S1F1) http://support.dell.com/support/down...iceTag=4H8S1F1. This page gave alist of all updates for my pc. After I downloaded the graphics card I created restore point and then proceeded with install. When it finished the install wizard recommended restarting. After restart I had lost signal to monitor.
I am not sure what the exact name of the download I installed, but if I could get to my files I would tell you. I have put everything back to original condition before I opened case. I have a new PCI Express Card but the manual says that the onboard graphics card needs to be disabled which is sort of a problem since I can't get to Device Manager. I also have a new Power supply (550W PCI-EXPRESS Comenetor 12CM Fan) not yet installed. IF you follow link above it shows you all available updates for my system.

When you (try to) start the computer does it appear to be doing anything? Does the HDD activity light flash and/or can you hear the drive running? What about the fans - are they spinning?

Yes all fan are running internal drive starts my mouse even light up and flashes. On startup my mouse before I lost signal would flash when my pc was loading and it still does same thing now. So it sounds and looks like it is loading.

Have you tested the monitor on another computer to make sure it in fact works properly.

Do you have another monitor that you can try, even borrow a monitor from a friend that you know is a good working monitor ?

Is the new PCIe graphics card installed or not? If yes which video (VGA) connector is the monitor connected too? You want to be very careful with the motherboard jumpers, especially the clear CMOS jumper. Incorrect placement of that jumper can and has damaged motherboards on power up.

Where were the motherboard jumpers before you returned them to the "normal" position?

I did have my jumpers in the wrong place, but i lost the display signal after I ran a "Dell Recommended Diagnostics" using PC Checkup in Dell Support Center 3.0 and it said my graphics card needed updated. After istalling the update it starts up lights up sounds like it has always done but my monitor stopped receiving a signal. THAT is when i moved jumpers. I am almost ready draw a BIG target on it and get my Winchester 270 and put a few rounds into it.
