Windows 7: ATI Mobility Radeon 7500

Hi OZ,
I would really appreciate if you could send me a link for some tool that can be used instead of the ATI control panel that can control the brightness and RGB settings of the display.
Best regards,

Windows 7

There is a software called ATI Tray Tools - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which will do the job, but i cannot get it running on 7 (tried latest versions - 1.3.x and 1.6.x-beta). I get an error message about memory location that cannot be read on program startup. The same problem is reported multiple times from users on Vista, but so far without a solution.

Try it for yourself, beta download is here: Download ATI Tray Tools Beta / 1.3 Stable - Free tweaker for Radeon cards that provides you with support for ATI Control Center - Softpedia

Good luck!

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

okay guys, it has been so long since anyone has posted anything here... for my side, i was very busy for last semester of uni, so i had to roll back to windows XP and stop trying and playing with driver on windows 7. however, i will try the new RC releases soon and check whether things have changed or not. and i will also try the link u posted and make sure all things are goin well... if any of u has already done things, i would appreciate it, whether u succeeded or not, to share it with us, since both ways it will help us a lot...
till then...

Hi there,

I'm really interested in drivers for the 7500.

I still use an IBM R51 with Mobility Radeon 7500 and I will setup Win 7 RC from scratch tonight...

Could somebody plz advice if it is still necessary to change DirectX to OpenGL for vid playback or has this issue been solved by using one of the modded drivers in this thread?

My T42 is stable with windows 7 RTM, using this driver. No 3d, but the graphics index went up to 1.9.

Windows 7 (Build 7600-16385)

Do NOT do this. This ended up hosing my display. Good thing for driver rollback.

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

*Smacks unknownone in the back of the head*

EDIT: Hey unknownone, make sure of your chip first instead of hosing everyones laptops.

I did not say to reboot, but I tested Freecell and it said there was no hardware acceleration still, so then I did a reboot and presto! no more message about Hardware acceleration being disabled and the cards fanned out in there fancy way. I've only done this about 5 minutes ago, so I don't know how things will function long term, although I've also only been running 7 for about an hour... Hope this helps.
Thanks Rwczen, this worked for me and I'm very happy! All devices on my 6 year old laptop work and it's now much faster than Windows XP!

Thanks again, Ben

directx features & Mediaportal/Windows Media Center

Hi guys,

I installed one of the drivers described above (have to check which one :) on a compaq N800C
I can use Mplayerc HC (EVR) /Media player to play videos without issues, but I can't get MediaPortal or Windows MEdia Center to start.
Both complain on the Directx or driver from the card. (32Mb).

Mediaportal is working on XP on that machine.

Dxdiag does not show any issues.

Can someone confirm they can or can not use the builtin mediacenter or mediaportal on a mobility 7500 ?

many thanks
