It could be. My battery on my one laptop went bad after six months. The battery on my other laptop of the same age just went bad after five years.

Italia,
If you prefer the wording "external" fan, than that is ok.

An external fan will help.

Running in either Balanced or PowerSaver mode will bring down your temp.

You can verify this for youself by installing and running Speccy which is free. (link in my sig).

to know more about the state of your battery, SIW (free and link in my sig) will give you the most detailed battery info that I've found.

I have my computer on balanced as well

But whenever i plug my laptop in to charge, within minutes i have green dots. and at one pt a couple weeks ago Windows even said i need to replace my battery, but that notice eventually went away (even tho i never replaced my battery).

Italia,

What does the SIW program say about your battery life and condition?

This program may help you see what is using how much power. Under no circumstances interrupt the program during the initial calibration which will probably take about 15 minutesl The screen will go black and you will think the program is hung or that your computer is dead. Just be patient.

But the vent on the side of the laptop (left side) is the exhaust vent. You are pumping air into that vent from a fan? How much did it drop temps?
