    Black Screen at Startup

I installed windows 7 a few days ago, everything seemed to run fine until this morning.. Last night i updated windows because some updates where finished, during shutdown the update was installed. This morning i turn on my computer, it beeps once(loud beep not a soft beep) The screen doesnt flicker and goes into sleep mode. I tried disconnecting the videocard and reconnecting the wires, still doesnt work. I pressed F2, F8, F12, doesnt go to BIOS screen or Boot. I have no idea how to get the connection back. Has anyone has this problem and can help me find a solution.

    thank you

Well, beeping means, u got some piece of hardware that isnt connected properly, or does not exist.or if everything is there, something is malfunctioning, or isnt connected properly. Cant remember what the 1 beep means. :S

man I posted a long post here.... but its not here any more.

If you can't get in to the BIOS, and it does not POST, likely its the hardware.

you will not be able to boot of anything if you cannot get to BIOS or POST, so restore disks will not work.

Basically I stated to pull everything out but what is essential.... CPU, 1 stick of RAM, Video card.

Try booting with that, remember to swap the 1 DIMM for another when testing in case you test with a possible bad dim.

One other thing, what video card do you have? 1 loud beep sounds like the sound I heard on a friends PC when he didn't plug in the 12v rail on his video card.

    Hi Capitaman,

Whats the exact model/make of your motherboard so we can lookup your motherboard manual, it contains the beep error codes and we can give you the exact cause and device casuing the beep

I thought GPU makes beeps,in corresponding with the SOS beep. Thats what i have experienced anyways.

It's the motherboard that issues the beep command:)

Dependent on the make/model the MB will disperse a series of beeps depending on the error that has occured and this will only be found by reading the MB manual.

Although, it is possible that other hardware can have a form of PC speaker but the more obvious choice is the MB. Process of elimination i suppose
