    Crysis 2 Performance?

I have been running Crysis 2 on my notebook, but it seems to be getting much worse performance than is expected...

    Card: AMD HD 6750M
    Core Clock: 790MHz
    Shader/Memory Clock: 970MHz
    Dedicated vRAM: 1024MB
    Memory Bus Width: 128 bit
    Driver: Latest Catalyst Version
    CPU: i7-2820QM 2.3GHz
    RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333MHz
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

I'm getting around 30 FPS at 1440x900 at all "high" (in game the settings are scaled as high, very high, ultra, and extreme). This doesn't seem right, as game benchmarks indicate that even the old HD 4850 is getting 40-50 FPS at 1650x1050. Could there be a hardware/software issue with my computer?

    - are you running the Crysis2 DX11/Hi-Res patches..?

the 4850 can't run them, so Crysis2 simply runs "better" on it, with fewer resources..
it just doesn't look as sweet as it does, when you stick on all the whistles and bells
that come with the updates and patches..

your 6750 should be able to play it reasonably well without the updates, though..

Everything disabled if possible. No DX11, no high res pack. Essentially the same setup as the test conducted for the 4850, with lower resolution.

the power of the CPU may be the key - what's powering the 4850..?

the game's heavy on the CPU, as well as GFX and RAM..

Well, I'm not sure what's powering the test 4850, but I'm fairly certain that the i7-2820QM is capable of running the game. I didn't see more than 40% processor usage during the entire time I played. Plus, 8GB of RAM is enough, right? This is what has confused me. The only thing that's being maxed out by the game is the GPU, which is reported (by GPU-Z) to be at 99% usage.

have you downloaded the latest AMD Crossfire Application Profile..?
it will work with a single card - install it and enable crossfire, if you can..

    - it contains a number of fixes for Crysis2

Okay, thank you. I don't have my computer in front of me right now, but I will give that a go in the morning. Thanks for your prompt and comprehensive help.

performance does take a hit under DX11, but the difference isn't really that great..
