I have everything I need except the brightness. Like I said, there is a driver, specifically for Windows 7 but it doesn't work, at least on my computer, even though its for my model. Anyway, this is really annoying, will it ever be supported? Wouldn't it have to as this laptop is still in stores and Windows 7 comes out soon?

i know, but the most important thing for adjusting brightness in vista and 7 is the proper Graphic card driver !

if you have vista drivers for your laptop try to install them in 7!
90% your problem will be solved!

I have a Toshiba Satellite A355-S6924 and I cannot access my brightness settings either. The driver package is called Toshiba Added value package and there IS one available for Windows 7 but it doesn't seem to work. I have tried some of the things on this page event ho they are not for my laptop because I am desperate. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. I don't want to have to downgrade to Vista and sit around all day installing drivers and programs.
    Hey CS

    welcome to seven forums

Have you looked on Toshibe they have 64 bit driver specifically for win 7. Look here Model Content Page If this doesn't work can you tell us what driver you have tried that isnt working

Yeah, thats where I get my drivers. I have a A355-S6924. I go into the Windows 7 64-bit category and download the Toshiba Value Added Package for Windows 7. I know this is the correct driver because this is what I had to install when i had Vista and this enabled my brightness settings and a few other things. I have tried this numerous times and it just doesn't work.

What is the valu added package? I see this vid driver for 64 bit

    Ken

Edit: win 7 may not be the same driver as vista (prob is) but if the right driver isn't working might be the individual driver might be differentthan the value added

What? The value package is what gives me The FN+F# Functionality. What you have pictured is the SD card reader. I dont know what your asking though.

Thats the thing though, as far as I can tell, there is no individual driver. The value package is the driver.

    Cs

And it doesnt work correct. I have a dell that had a similar problem. Install the chipset driver and the vid driver that came with it. Video didnt work. Had to un-install the video driver and go to intel for the deperate video driver (same version) that did work. I guess dell's implementation of the package was what was giving me grief and installing the single intel driver what fixed it.

RESOLVED: suddenly cant change screen brightness win 7

    RESOLVED:

i turned my laptop on this morning and the screen was so dull and i couldn't change it, i had been able to do this previously in windows 7 but today the option wasn't available :O

after a bit of reading on Google i figured out how to fix the non-changeable screen, some people had to reinstall Intel chip sets but Ive got an AMD chip so i though that must be wrong

so i checked windows updates history, sure enough, 2 'critical' updates went through yesterday, so i uninstalled them from windows 7 and restarted the laptop and when i came back, all the options were available again, so i was just windows updates stopping that for working.

i was just so glad i thought i share this with the forum so if anyone else has windows 7 and they suddenly lose the ability to change screen brightness options try that.

I have one of the asus g73h series laptops, and was having this problem as well. As it turns out, there are two workarounds. One is to disconnect and reconnect the AC adapter; the other was to press Windows key + X (to bring up the mobility center), select "Connect display" and then click on "Computer only". Hope this hopes someone.
