Some folks were saying that some games and perhaps other software was balking at the 59Hz and it's part of the same EDID override solution I was developing so I thought I'd chime in...

This was an oddity I've noticed with every W7 build I've used (early betas included) but I didn't think much of it. It's only become an issue with Saints Row 2, it will lose sync and the screen becomes scrambled with scan lines. I've toyed with a few of the suggestions here but the refresh will not lock in at 60Hz - it always reverts back to 59Hz. The monitor specs clearly state is can handle my res and refresh but it does NOT support the res/refresh it's running at. I wonder if this 'glitch' is causing harm to my wonderful LCD.

There isn't much mention of this one MSDN, I'll raise a flag and see what happens.

Version? For my card 185.85 is the latest (published early May) and I already have it installed.

Haven't used Win7 for a month or so, so when I ran it now and got the latest nVidia update, the problem seamed to be solved...

185 is the latest by the look of things...

To see what your refresh really is turn vertical sync on and run something 3D that shows FPS. Even though my monitor in W7 (and also in Vista) says 59Hz., my FPS is 60 with vertical sync on.

LCD Native Resolution, EDID and 59Hz issues
I'm on the trail of what might turn out to be quite a boon for those folks with resolution and refresh rate issues. Seems that Windows caches a copy of the monitor EDID since querying it can be very time consuming at startup each time. There appears to be no "protection" on that stored binary value...

Windows 7 insists on resetting my T260 to 59hz
Ok, I tried to help a few others on here - now it's my turn. Done the web searches about Win 7 resetting my Samsung T260 monitor on startup to 59hz (from proper setting of 60hz) which annoyingly reduces text size. Can't find an answer! Appears many others suffer from this 59HZ 'bug'. This...

Refresh rate won't go above 59hz
I have a 8800 GTS running with an HP LP2275w monitor. I just installed win7 and for some reason it won't let the refresh rate go above 59hz. My monitor is capable of running 60hz. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but I actually find it quite disorienting. When I change the video settings...
