Windows should have an alternative to linux's "xorg.conf"

Anyone have any other ideas?

I dont want to sound like a moron that just sits and waits for someone to get an proper answer, ive killed my ass searching for fixes and solutions to this, squizing google to every forum, but i havent come up with something that really fixes this issue. Maybe this only happens with one kind of LCDs, (god bless CRTs) wich by the way, mine is an HP W20.

The only thing that remains is crossing finguers and hope that this problem is fixed on final W7 build.

Cheers and thanks for the possible help.

Is there any chance you could sell that monitor and get a different one? I don't know if that would solve it, but if you don't care about it that much, you should try that.

That would not solve the issue at all. I dont believe its a hardware related issue but either OS or driver issue since I have this problem as well and have different monitors and graphics card.

Well, it was just an idea.

I think that 59hz is all your computer is capable of.

I thought I read somewhere that its actually displaying at 59.94 and something is rounding it down to 59 instead of 60. Cant remember where I saw it though :/

Maybe it is, but I'm not sure how this would fix the problem.

Now, i hate to say this, but RTM is closer and closer and i can picture myself with a bought final build in my computer, and still having the problem. Now, and only now i hate vista because Windows 7 is guaranteed as a big step forward, but work and other stuff are forcing me to downgrade it.
Remember retail isn't until October. If you're planning to buy Windows 7, and don't have access to it via Technet, Connect or MSDN, then you won't have to worry about it for 3 months+

LCD Native Resolution, EDID and 59Hz issues
I'm on the trail of what might turn out to be quite a boon for those folks with resolution and refresh rate issues. Seems that Windows caches a copy of the monitor EDID since querying it can be very time consuming at startup each time. There appears to be no "protection" on that stored binary value...

Windows 7 insists on resetting my T260 to 59hz
Ok, I tried to help a few others on here - now it's my turn. Done the web searches about Win 7 resetting my Samsung T260 monitor on startup to 59hz (from proper setting of 60hz) which annoyingly reduces text size. Can't find an answer! Appears many others suffer from this 59HZ 'bug'. This...

Refresh rate won't go above 59hz
I have a 8800 GTS running with an HP LP2275w monitor. I just installed win7 and for some reason it won't let the refresh rate go above 59hz. My monitor is capable of running 60hz. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but I actually find it quite disorienting. When I change the video settings...
