hey gohan the solution i found to resolve the problem was to make the connection using a hdmi cable instead of a dvi (with a adapter on the graphic card dvi-hdmi)... it solved for me : D
My graphic card is a sapphire 4890...
    now i can normally set 60hz : D
See if it solves to you too ^^
That's a little extreme? I'd have to buy an HDMI cable and adapter, that isn't going to be free. I wish I could use PowerStrip to force 60Hz but it resets to 59Hz when I reboot...

I actually have an HDMI cable sitting here, but I've no adapter to connect it to my graphics card. To be honest, I'd rather keep forcing 60Hz in PowerStrip everytime I boot than spend money on an adapter.

Just checked my box, ah so it has, I didn't know. Unfortunely my HMDI cable is only 1 metre long and will not reach the back of my tower. Argh

well move your tower a little just to see if it works... and see if you have any other hdmi cable bigger than that one being used that you can trade ...
Its up to you now to imagine solutions
I hope you can fix it : )

I'm not going through all that hassle for 1 game (PES2010). My Tower is right next to my monitor but because my desk is high, slightly further back and my tower is on the floor, it will not reach. I only have one HDMI cable which is too short.

Thanks for the suggestion but even if it does work, what will that achieve? I am not prepared to pay for a new HDMI cable just for 1 game.

Just a reminder for those of you that might have missed it. There was a work around for this issue posted earlier in the thread. Post #224 by jimmy1988.

    HI ALL,

THIS IS A SOLUTION FOR NVIDIA CARDS, AND IT WORKS GREAT.

After frustrating countless hours, I found a fix that works like a charmmmm.

    - Go to Nvidia Control Panel
    - Go to Add resolution
    - Create Custom Resolution
    - Click on Timing
    - Click on Manual
    - Set refresh rate to 60.001 Hz
    - Press Apply, and Have funnnn
If you have not tried it, it may be worth a shot. It is not guaranteed to work for everyone but it has for many. I tried it myself and it worke for me, even though right now I currently just leave mine at 59hz as it does not bother me too much anymore.

I am still running the build 7100. I was under the impression this issue would have been fixed for the current retail version. It would be nice to hear if the people with the retail version are not experiencing it.

I have a simple question...why does this giving folks such consternation? Both my laptop and desktop are running at 59 Mhz instead of 60 and I don't even detect any problem whatsoever. So why are people so wrapped up in this 59 thing?

Some games you get tearing if you run at 59Hz because v-sync will not be enabled at 59Hz. An example of this is Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. At 59Hz, the v-sync option is disabled but at 60Hz it's enabled.
