I suspected it would be something like that. I'm not the only one lately running into this type of problem with the older titles however as you can see from just discussion there alone.
For the Hydra vision feature AMD/ATI likely had to make a change in extensions in order to see the correct increase in number starting with the 10.5 version to get that going there and with the 10.6 before adding the Hydra vision into the mix.
This particular title was 98 as well as XP compatible when released so you could expect it was hard coded based on the old AGP architectures. When looking now in the system32 folder you will see the atiglpxx.dll file which sounds like it won't be seen when putting the 10.7 back on again.
Post #15 was also one to note there as well for listing the old title most effected for anyone interested. Sof I +II + III(last sequel 2005) are installed here as well as rtcw. Sof III is far newer and has another problem for that one however. Now to see if extracting that into the main folder root or the gl sub folder(refer to image attached) will work once the 10.7 is tried again.
Good catch on that one! stormy13 Now to see if it works out on these different titles at least.
NADA! Stubborn aren't they?! RTCW saw this.
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: WolfSP.exe
Application Version: 0.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 3bf17241
Fault Module Name: atioglxx.dll
Note the atioglxx.dll was the fault module when the "graphics driver not working" message appeared for that one. Sof II simply saw the same type of stopped working popup with similar error info while SoF I saw an entirely grey screen.
Unfortunately I think will be a continuing problem people will be making inquiries about for those that still prefer to run the older titles. On the 10.7 was installed a fresh install of DX9c followed the restart to insure the older DX was present to see that covered as well.
SoF I saw the same while the second attempt for SoF II saw...
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: SoF2.exe
Application Version: 0.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 3db457db
Fault Module Name: StackHash_621c
Added here as a reference.
I just came across one reply on the AMD site where someone mentioned turning off the Direct Draw in the 10.7 release to solve game crashes with a few recent titles. Age of Empires was one title as well as someone reporting improvement with online multiplayer games; no titles specified. This will be looked into here.
