Anyway I'm just wondering if I can use the CAP with the previous drivers.

    Thanks
Yep. Cap profiles are newer than the 3D driver versions .

The CAP profiles are just little updates that can be used with any previous driver. That's what I used to do.

Ostensibly, new driver releases are supposed to contain all the previous CAP profiles, but in the interim, install the profiles.

ie Cat 11.5whql should contain all previous CAP profiles.

Yes you can, this update isn't in the 11.3 either. Don't forget that they are also cumulative so if you have previous profile updates installed you can safely uninstall them before installing the latest.

Also not sure if you have seen spyre mention it at Rage3D, but there are almost always a few undocumented fixes in the profile update that don't make the release notes (same goes for the driver updates).

Thanks stormy, as well as smarteyeball. It's just that I never really install the CAP profiles as I always veiw them as being for Crossfire setups. Also being that I have a single card I've rarely run into issues, except for DA 2 which did require the previous preview drivers.

    Anyways thanks.

The CAP profiles are supposed to benefit both single and crossfire setups. It's just a quicker method of getting hotfixes than releasing an entire new driver set. But if you aren't having an issue, it's certainly not doing any harm by not installing them.

What does taking out the card have to do with a missing file?

    OK....

When you remove the drivers AND video card, re-boot the PC without both, then install the card this will for lack of a better word (phrase) reset the driver issue for the card. This tends to work for a lot of pesky GPU driver installs. I've done it myself.

We gave you a suggestion. It wasn't something that was just plucked out of the air. It's up to you to try or not.

hi :) have a read here this may help >>> GPU-33: Graphics Driver Installation Instructions for Microsoft Windows 7
That's the method I use , I also use Driver Sweeper.
I think Driver Sweeper screwed the pooch. Probably removed more files then it should have. Try to restore back before you did the uninstall and see if it recovers. Then dump Driver Sweeper.
