Thanks first off!
The fault is that the Display Driver and Audio driver both fail. Every time I try to install them.
The measures I have take is uninstall with amd program, also did the fix I found on here about uninstalling everything and go in to safe mode and running clean sweep, and windows registry cleaner. The only thing I have not tried but thought about is reformatting the hard drive. But I don't know if that would really fix anything.
Sorry about not replying sooner. I've just been feeling very stressed and burned out.
I left a reply back in May about my misery with updating a driver. The dv7 is pretty much old news. The fan is going out and don't plan on having anything done with in spite of having an additional year of a 3rd party 2 warranty left on it. I may replace the fan myself if I can get the bottom cover off. The thing never really lived up to my expectations.
Anyway I like my new Win7 Pro (OPK/Systembuilder) machine better, that my brother put together. Whenever he feels like it. is to fiddle with the BIOS or CMOS settings to get the hard drive activity light to work (unless the LED is bad).

- according to AMD, the 11.10 driver should work with 3870 X2
- are you sure that the installed graphics card is being read by the motherboard..
check the BIOS and make sure that you have disabled any onboard graphics..
A combination of those can be why you can't get the new driver to install. If they did end up removing more than they should (and they can), then if you don't have a backup image from before you ran them then the only way to fix it is to re-install Windows.uninstalling everything and go in to safe mode and running clean sweep, and windows registry cleaner.
They had me check and update my BIOS. So I did that. And my Mainboard doesn't have any graphic on it. That is why I am so confused.
Stormy- I didn't know all that would / could do that. I only removed anything with the words ATI and AMD. Nothing else. But I did a restore after that didn't work.
Thanks for the help the both of ya. Hopefully we can fix this so how.
If it was the latest (or whenever it was they added it) version of Driver Sweeper you used, it should have a backup function that should restore everything it removed.
As far as it removing more, seen it happen more than enough over the years leaving people with no way to fix what it did short of re-installing Windows, that I am one of those that will not recommend using it.
Cat 11.11 is now available,

- Global Ops - Commando Libya: Improves CrossFire performance
- Driver San Francisco: Disables CrossFire
Just tried the new update and I got the same issues. I guess I have to re-image my system. The AMD rep that I have been in contact with gave up yesterday. And that is what he stated also.
