Not sure but I would assume that it would download the exe like a manual download and save it to the temp folder, and then extract it to the C:\AMD folder like normal and run the install from there. If that is what it does, then just like if you manually download and install, it can safely be deleted after as all that folder contains is the install files, there is nothing in it that used used after installing.

What do you know. Mine did as well. I wonder why AMD doesn't have 12.3 available for download yet.

Likely a typo in the INF and nothing to worry about as it doesn't affect anything.

You can also change it to whatever you want (or even have it show nothing) by opening the INF and locating the following,

    HKR,, Catalyst_Version,,"12.3"

and change it to 12.2 or anything else you want (or even delete the line completely). It has no bearing at all on how the driver performs.

P.S. If you remove that line and don't clean out any and all locations in the registry that point to the catalyst version, CCC will show whatever previous Cat version was installed. That is why in most cases if you install a beta/leaked AMD driver it can show the previous version regardless of what the beta is based on as AMD normally doesn't include that string in the betas.

Updated catalyst to 12.3 earlier today and had no problems. After shutting my comp down though and restarting the aero transparency effects are not working. The windows troubleshooting option "Troubleshoot problems with transparency and other aero effects" did not solve the problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue or found how to solve it? My desktop is very ugly right now P.S. I have a radeon hd 6870
