    ATI Radeon 9250

I was wondering if the catalyst 9.7 driver will make the ATI Radeon 9250 work with Win7. I am a little skeptical about purchasing this card, because I don't see much praise for it working.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Welcome to the Se7enforums! jpcjr

The oldest seeing anything in the way of active support is the 9500s. You'll have to go through the older catalysts found at guru3d or one of the few other sites that still tend to archive them. Your best option of course would simply be getting into a much newer card if possible.

Thanks, I found an EVGA I am looking into. I found out the ATI has Directx 8 and Win7 needs Directx 9.

Actuall if you are referring to Direct X itself 7 comes with 11 DirectX 11 Details (just in time for the beta builds) while DX9c can still be installed for things like older pc games.

Gradually newer cards will require 10 or above once XP is phased out entirely as seen with previous versions of Windows.

Well, I just need a cheap graphics card until my current mobo fries. My mobo is not that great and I like Windows 7. I just bought the upgrade when it was on sale for $49.99

Why is it no one bothers to read the release notes for each catalyst version?
    i agree - RTFM!

but ati/amd would make it a lot easier if the release notes weren't always in damn pdf format - they are text only files FFS!

Tell me about it! Sometimes adobe can't even read some of pdf files I run across at other sites as well.

A simple release note right on the same page as the download mentioning the series it supports would be all that was needed so people would know right off if the selected update is the correct one for the card they run.

jpcjr does that card mention having any DX10 support? 7 should still go on while you might run into some gaming and media problems if it doesn't.

I just bought an ATI RADEON HD3850 and the latest catalyst driver does not install at all! It's like it doesn't detect my graphics card and just bypasses installing the driver. It installs the Catalyst Control Center, but does not install the actual driver itself.

So I got fed up with trying to install this and used the CD that came with the package itself. I used that and installed it even though it told me its not certified, etc. Now, the driver FINALLY installed, but alas, another problem comes up. The aero theme works, but is extremely laggy. My computer feels so slow when I use the aero theme so I had to switch it to the other themes. What can I do to fix this?

Well welcome aboard the Se7enforums! ShaolinMilk

You are not the only one running into problems with the latest Catalyst 9.7 for sure. Join the club! I saw the 9.4 go on without fuss while everyone else ran into problems with that one. Airbot saw the 9.7 go on however while it was our turn for seeing problems I guess!

Give the 9.6 a try there since that didn't cause any problems for anyone so far.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I have one question: Where exactly do I download that version?
