by the way, anyone has any recommendations of what software to use to clean the computer of any amd drivers before reinstalling? do i need to uninstall using the default uninstaller first, then use the software to clean up or i can just use the software to clean up?

    Hello Lala,

You could just run the AMD CCC driver software again to either repair or do a clean install of them again. :)

hi, sorry for interrupting this thread, but can you tell me whether are the extra features provided by the catalyst suite useful? for example, amd media foundation decoder? i've green screen problems with videos (both flash videos online and videos with my local media player), and i've done some research online, and i've got these points:
    1) Windows update KB2670838 (IE10 prerequisite) is causing problems with H264 decoder?
    2) Extra features provided by the catalyst suite (can choose during installation) is causing a decode failure for H264?

I have the latest Catalyst version installed, plus the mentioned update, yet I do not have the issue described.

    Flash Crash

aargghhhh... not sure this is the same issue, but on my HTPC rig I just "updated" to 12.104 graphics driver, catalyst 13.4, and I'm getting regular crashes on Chrome Flashplayer use.
sometimes immediate, sometimes it will be ok until the file changes or something.
Win7 reports Display Driver crash, restarts, etc.

I guess the only thing to do is rollback a ways?
Has anyone else run down a workaround for this?

    mine is a 6570 1GB card

to update: IE10 /Flash works like a dream. very smooth, liquid, stable.
checked Chrome/plugins and only the Chrome-specific shockwave player 11.7.700.203 is installed, and enabled.

perhaps one of you that has this rig running correctly could share with me your Catalyst settings/presets for Flash-Chrome.

i'm ok with IE10 for now - I just prefer Chrome in general.

It isn't a problem with 13.1 per se, more of a bug in either the driver or Flash itself. There is also no rhyme or reason as to when or where it will occur, and has (and still does) affected both AMD and Nvidia. If you want to go back to the 12.6 you can find it here,

    Previous AMD Catalyst

it's not with flash itself, because i can view youtube videos etc. in chrome and internet explorer without disabling the hardware acceleration. and it's not only happening with youtube videos, it also happens with the original Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic Home Cinema. I didn't have the same problem when i'm using 12.6, it only happened after i installed 13.1. There's problem only when playing videos, when playing games, everything is fine.

The link you gave is not for the legacy driver version, i.e. the supported device list doesn't include AMD Radeon HD 4870.
