To completely remove it, go to the Programs and Features select the ATI and then select uninstall everything. No need for third party tools or safe mode.

Hi, I have a maybe strange question for you guys. I am using the HD 2400 XT card (that's PCIe). It works perfectly fine, with two monitors and the latest ATI driver - currently 9.11 although the actual driver version is 8.671. Now, I have only downloaded and installed the driver, not the Catalyst Control Center. The question is - what does it do? I had it before in Vista, but I never really used it, although it ran a few processes on start up. In 7 I decided against installing it, and everything works fine (and by the way 7 starts up way faster than Vista, on the same hardware). But the question is still - am I missing anything without the CCC?

CCC is only needed if you want to tweak things like screen size on a tv. If you are satisfied with how your monitors look, you don't need it.

It can also make tweaks to how games perform. That however, is best left to the settings of any particular game. Again, not really needed here either.

To sum it up, if you're happy, leave CCC off. If you ever do want to install CCC, you can disable it from starting with Windows.

CCC can also overclock but if you want to do that type of thing, use ATI Tray Tools instead.

Installed Windows Ultimate. During installation ATI driver 8.632 installed along with sound card driver. I tried to install ATI 9.11 (8.671) driver only and install bar stops about 2/3 the way through.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

First, extract the driver to C:\ATI

Once extraction is done, close the installer.

Then boot to safe mode. Open device manager. Right click the video card. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Now find the extracted .inf in the driver folder for display, double click it. Hit ok. Hit next. After it's done installing, boot to normal mode.
