On XP in particular without having the NetFramework 2.0 version installed the older catalysts would run into the "MOM Implementation" error until that was downloaded and installed followed by a fresh reinstall of the catalyst version you were using.

Typically you saw that only after a fresh or recent install of the older version and not having all updates on. Typically that came up during a gaming session where the error message followed a game crash.

As for having an onboard ATI chip that should be disabled in the Device Manager as well as the bios setting change to PCI/PCIe when drivers only are present when running a separate NVidia card. That will keep the updates from continuing to search for newer ATI integrated versions while having NVidia in use.

As for ATI using NVidia or NVidia using anything ATI the simple answer Brink provided is the exact same either way. NO! ATI wares are written specific for ATI chips while NVidia is written for NVidia chips. That would be like trying to run a Core 2 duo on an old Socket A board. "Total Mismatch"

even the beta driver did not fix my one problem. i hope its gone in the next version. i only tested the two games, but this driver probably caused more of that problem in more games. but it really is a bad problem when put into context

10.9 out today. Hasn't been updated on the AMD download page yet but for those that don't want to wait you can find working links here,

    ATi Catalyst 10.9 Download & Discussion - Guru3D.com Forums

Release notes to follow. And for you Steam users starting with the Cat 10.9 you will now be able to get them through Steam,

Just hope it is an optional download and not a forced one like Steam likes to do with games.

It's not forced. Just set by defualt to auto update.

If you do not want a game be automatically updated, you can turn off the Auto Update feature for that game, in properties.

Unless I misunderood what you meant.

Ill wait and see how 10.9 comes out first I think.

Im still using 10.6 and haven't had any issues so far, so relucant to update seeing all the issues many have had the last few releases. :-/
