    Snow Leopard-VirtualBox-Windows 7 screen resolution

I purchased an Apple computer (a Macbook Pro 13") two months ago, and installed Windows 7 (run via VirtualBox) because I need to use one Windows-only software essential for my work. My problem is that I can't get the full 1280x800 resolution in Windows, as my current Windows settings offers only screen resolutions with a 4:3 aspect ratio (800x600 to 1600x1200).

Windows 7 recognizes my display as "Generic Non-Pnp monitor on Standard VGA graphics adapter". I downloaded the latest driver for Intel HD Graphics 3000, "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7", but the installation was not successful, showing this message: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software".

Any advice on how can I get a 1280x800 screen resolution option? Or maybe, what exactly are the "minimum requirements" for installing the Windows 7 graphics driver for a Macbook Pro?

Host OS: Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) ver 10.6.8
    VirtualBox version: 4.1.0
    Windows version: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Protonic, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Might it be the obvious reason? You need to install VirtualBox Guest Additions for the emulated GPU to fully work. This pic is from an Ubuntu vm running on VirtualBox, but for you the procedure would be the same:

(When your Seven guest is running, install Guest Additions from vm's Device menu.)

Wow, that was embarrassingly easy. Thanks a lot Kari.

I have a 17" macbook pro and I can only get a max 1600x1200 not the native 1920x1080.

I have downloaded the Guest Additions but that does not resolve my problem.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you considered using bootcamp? The drivers needed are within the bootcamp installation
