hi everyone. i got a frozen distorted display 3 times already with this brand new Lenovo laptop and i suspected it related with the installation of MS Office 2010 64-bit. since i am not sure of the exact cause, i am hoping that someone would be able to tell me and how to prevent this from happening ever again. thanks in advance.
This might be worth a try restart the computer and hit the F8 key repeatedly until you come to a screen that has a list of commands and choose the one the says "Last known working configuration" or something close to that. And see if the problem still occurs. It should take the computer back to a time when it was functioning right. If not try a system restore by slipping in your windows dvd in your optical drive (if you have one) and booting from it. When the computer firsts starts you should have a "boot options menu" most laptops do it's like F2 or F12 it will say at the bottom of the screen during post boot. Boot from the DVD and when it's finished booting go to the screen that says "repair computer" and do a system restore from there to a time where you know the system was functioning correctly preferably before the install of the proggie that you believe caused the issue.
I wouldn't have thought the problem would be caused by installing Microsoft Office, but of course I could be wrong.
As your computer is brand new it might pay you to contact Lenovo Support and see what they've got to say as you could have a defective graphics card, faulty RAM or even a problematic power supply.

Lenovo also may have a lot of trials and bloatware on it too and could cause conflicts. Uninstall all of those you won't use and run the windows defragmenter and disk clean up.
what exactly gives the idea that it might be related to faulty graphics card, RAM, and power supply?? i just really want to know please. is there a software that can scan devices and produces report like those. anyways, i guess i got nothing to lose by contacting lenovo support. thanks.
The main reason I suggested contacting Lenovo support is because it is a brand new computer and is therefore still under warranty, so you'd be as well letting them fix it while it's not going to cost you any money.
As for software, if you read your computer manual you'll probably find that you have diagnostic software or the facility to create a diagnostics disc that will run a full set of tests on your hardware.
Your display will not function properly if there is a problem with your graphics card, while bad RAM or power supply can have a drastic effect on your computer.
You really should contact Lenovo Support because until they know about your problem they can't help you.
