Windows 7: PC to TV, Set up assistance please

Windows XP Home Edition 32

The changes to resolution were made through Control Panel > Display Properties.

Powerstrip was suggested online to create custom resolutions but having installed it no adjustments can be made with it because the adjustment button is greyed out for some reason.

Haven;t tried just the yellow video pin as previous advice was connection via vga to s-video. So will try just the yellow pin.

There is no difference with just the yellow video pin from the vga. Still white and black flickering lines.

What you're seeing is usually indicative of the tv (or monitor) being fed a signal that is beyond its resolution capabilities.

Standard definition widescreen resolution is 704x480. I would try that setting or something lower if that one isn't available through your s-video cable.

I looked through the Sony owner's manual online and it didn't say what the available resolutions are. So, start low and work your way up until you find a resolution that you like and the tv will accept.
