    Freezing

On my com with proc. AMD 2400 + , RAM 1 Gb, i have WIn 7 home proffesional. The com is working very well but when i play movie, pictures is begining to freeze and proccesor goes to 100 %.
My video card is Radeon 9250 with 126 ram. And i founded some drivers for Win 7,but i read on forums...for this card you cant find drivers who work on Win 7 .
My question is ...why when you play movie the pictures is freezing and.....are any drivers for this kind of card for Win 7?

    hello tunac,
for starters i'd look into more memory . i think win 7 needs a min of 2 gb. it will run fine on 1 gb but when you start
loading movies and what not's it eating up the little memory you have ..

    Hello,

scrooge is right, you should probably upgrade to more system RAM at first, and check how things work out afterwards. A minimum of 2GB total should be okay.

As for the GPU, if you feel it's unstable, uninstall the manufacturer driver and let Win7 get the best one for you. You can start testing it from there. Also, I'd recommend staying away from HD movies, as Your machine doesn't look like up for the job.

    Best of luck.

Thanks for the your answer on my question.
I readed from your post and the other upper that the memory on my com should be 2Gb. But ...from task manager when i play movie the memory goes to 460Mb.(50%) The problem is the proccesor who goes 100% and i think this is the problem why the comp is freezing when i play movie. GPU has drivers from Win 7 instalation disk. I didnt saw the drivers for this kind of card for Win 7 .
Maybe is radeon 9250 the main problem.Maybe is not compatibility for this kind of OS (win7). What do you think??

Run the Windows 7 Upgrade Adviser, which will tell you what needs upgrading before you install Windows 7: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=20

Check the Windows Compatibiliy Centre, which highlights any hardware and/or software compatibility issues: Windows 7 Compatibility: Software Programs & Hardware Devices: Find Updates, Drivers, & Downloads

Thanks seavixen32 for the links above. On the "devices " everything is ok, except :

    RADEON 9250
    ATI Technologies Inc.

    Unknown
We don't have compatibility information about this device
Is this the real problem for instaling and using the Win 7 on my COM?

According to the Windows 7 Compatibility Center, the ATI Radeon 9250 should install with either the 32-bit or the 64-bit Win 7 driver.

Windows 7 Compatibility for ATI Radeon 9250 DDR 256MB Graphics Card: ATI. Drivers, Updates, Downloads

As it says, no further software is required, just install the card and Windows 7 should load a driver for it.
