Standard VGA driver (Should be ATI Radeon HD6550M)

I have a problem. My sister bought Acer Aspire 7551S and laptop is good. But once i tried to update ATI Radeon 6550M it said there is no such thing in her laptop . It said that there is no such hardware component so I really have no idea what to do, i tried everything and I can't even update standard VGA driver :\ in "dxdiag" says that my main driver is "vga" and that the driver is from 2009.
I would appreciate if anyone knows what's it about, I don't think that people in the shop would take out the graphics card :\ Thanks

Make sure you have the proper chipset drivers and the graphics driver. try the ones from the Acer website for her laptop first. :)

I know I'm going to sound like a noob but which is a chipset driver? A Card reader driver? Couldn't find any of the drivers called chipset drivers xD

    ATI Catalyst

Did you try to download Ati driver from the above link? Afaik, most laptop GPUs are supported in the drivers by default.

The chipset is the main set of controller chips built into the motherboard. I took a quick look at Acer's support page and didn't see one listed there. I did spot the graphics driver, though. You might see what their Hardware Vendor Detection Utility comes up with.

Yes, I tried but doesn't help at all. I even downloaded Standard VGA driver but that doesn't help either. This is the first time I encounter something like this

    Here it says
    "Bluetooth - Atheros
    Camera - Liteon
    LAN - Broadcom
    VGA - ATI/AMD
    Wireless LAN - Broadcom"

I guess that means I do have their graphic card in there after all But somehow I can't use it. Hmh.

The middle one here looks promising:

Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 7551

It's the video BIOS and says it Updates VBIOS to support AMD Radeon HD 6xx0M Series Graphics.

Look at the attached pic from Acer's drivers section. I'd start with the top one and if it doesn't work I'd try the bottom one next.

Thanks, I managed to install middle one but seems like it still doesn't recognize it. I tried AMD Driver Installer and it says "Graphics hardware: Radeon HD 6650M" and recommends a driver, and after that it says "Your computer does not contain a proper graphics adapter" . Maybe I should try top BIOS or bottom? Or you have other ideas Sorry if I'm troubling you and I really appreciate your help, but I really need some help around this because I have never encountered anything like this :|

Definitely try the VBIOS if you haven't done that already. The Video BIOS functions like the BIOS on the motherboard; it enables features and settings it didn't have before. It's the likely reason that the graphics device is not being recognized.

Make sure you follow the directions carefully! :)
