    Help with Graphics card crashing.

    Hi there,

So I have been having problems with my graphics card for a while now, the details of which are shown in my specs.

It keeps crashing and failing and restarting, even though I have updated the drivers. It's also causing problems I think with Direct X, and I have updated this as well.

Its causing me problems with games I'm playing, crashing them as well.

It's especially bad when I'm on skype, flickering the screen and any connecting monitors to flicker also.

It's slowing down my laptop generally.

Please help, this is a major pain in the butt. Any details you want, just ask, I'm on regularily.

    Thanks a lot,
    Stubbyhs

Sounds like an overheating problem. Do you use any outside fans for the laptop....chill mats or chill pads...a must investment for laptops. Have you cleaned out the intake and exhaust ports of laptop with a can of compressed air. I recommend if using a laptop as primary PC to blow it out at least twice a week. You'd be surprised as to how much dust and blockages it can have.

Do what bassfisher said, get a chillpad if you don't have one. Don't run a laptop for anything more than basic wordprocessing, web browsing, etc without one.

Well I have always run my laptop from my desk and have never had any problems before. I have also recently taken apaprt and blew out the fan and rest of the motherboard and casing with a compressor.

A friend had the idea that prehaps the Realtek Audio Manager I was using was clashing with an Audio Manager on the graphics card. I have just noticed that nVidia also has an audio manager on the computer, so I removed it and will restart. I have also had to remove some virii and do a chkdsk for...other problems...my poor laptop!

    stubbyhs!

Have you tried the driver version 280.26 and check?

Is the game crashing to desktop or you get any error?

I wouldn't try with this version of the driver. I have stability issues with it. You can try the version before it though.

Could this be my problem? I have that driver, and it is still crashing. I also have a virus though I think, see here for details if you ware interested.

Is it worth noting that my sound goes wrong when the games I am playing crash and its the same driver error?

    Thanks

A few users had issues with the 280 series of drivers. Download beta 285 from nvidia's site or laptopvideo2go and see if it helps.

I would recommend you go with the driver version 275.50 beta.

And install only the graphics driver and deselect all other components like physx,3d,etc while installing.

I downloaded and used the 285 series drivers, and it still crashed.

Do you think I should still use the 275 series? Or could it be a different problem?

    Thanks,
