weird problem with dxdiag regarding display memory.

ok so before i get started im running windows 7 home premium 64bit with an amd phenom II 1090T, crossfirex 6850's and just recently upgraded to 8 gigs of corsair vengeance.

ok the problem i have found is back when i was running 4 gig of ram i could go into dxdiag and click on the display tab and next to approx total memory it would say around 3.5gig. now that i have installed 8 gig of ram it is saying 1758mb of memory. how can this be? each 1 of my cards has 1 gig of ram alone without using any of the system memory.

if i right click on my desktop and click resolution then advanced settings, under my video cards adapter tab it says total available graphics memory 5886mb, dedicated video memory 2048mb and shared system memory 3838mb.

so does this mean that dxdiag is not accurate or is there actually something wrong with my pc?

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so this won't have any effect during game play? Just got my pc ready for bf3 and it's pretty intense on graphics. And how come there is not a fix from Microsoft yet the link someone had posted in that topic said it was detected in may...

It shouldn't affect gameplay in the slightest, it's just a read error in dxdiag, there's been a few posts about it recently, don't worry, MS are aware of the issue.
