    Gt440 vs 7950 gx2

Hey all, sorry to report my 7950 GX2 just died. :C

Now I'm wondering about this card:

Buy Online - ASUSTEK GF ENGT440/DI/1GD5 PCI-E 90-C1CQ50-L0UAN0BZ- from Elara Online Ireland

Would this be more powerful than, or at least in the same league as a 7950 GX2? Thanks! :)

7950 GX2 is a high end dual GPU card. The GT 440 cannot give you same performance when compared 7950 GX2. You will be getting 1/3rd performance roughly(not sure).

That is an old card. I would not recommend that GPU if you want something on the same level as you had with your old card. I would look at the new 590's. However I do not know your budget.

champ2010 more like was a high end card. It was long ago passed by quite a few cards, including a few of what would be considered med-low end today. It is from Tom's but this,

actually has those two cards at the same level. And here with them side by side,

it really is a toss up which would be better. Personally I would go with the GT 440 just for the far lower power requirements and that it isn't 4 or 5 generations old. DirectX 11 over DirectX 9 is also a plus.

All things considering you need to go a little further up the food chain to get something better.

Darn, alrighty then: Let me put it another way :P

What is the best graphic card for €120? One that is at least on par with my deceased 7950 GX2?

GTX 550 Ti for Nvidia, or HD 6850 from AMD. Either of which will basically eat your old card's breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Cool, I was looking at a GTX 550 Ti and I think it might just be interested in this one:

Quick update: I ended up running shorter on cash than I anticipated and bought a GT 440 - now I know you said this card would be weaker than my 7950 GX2...

But I'm sorry to report for you, things didn't turn out that way xD

My new GT 440 actually blows the 7950 GX2 out of the water in every game I've tested the card on! :P
