Computer won't boot...

Hey everyone. So my laptops screen was broken and instead of buying a new one for $100 I figured I could use one from my old broken laptop. So I took out the screen of the old computer, plugged in the little cable to the video card on my current computer and then it just turned off (It was on at the time) Now it wont turn back on. I switched the screen back to the broken one and still nothing! Please help!!! Thanks!

Your computer doesn't start or you can't see it start?

What is the problem of the broken monitor?

Turn off everything and then plug in your old monitor that might work, both electrical and screen cables. Now turn everything on, and pay close attention to what is happenning.

What cable, where, did you plug in and why did you do it with the power on? You can't just swap monitors on a laptop like you can on a desktop. The display and accompanying electronics are custom made for that make and model of laptop. If the replacement display wasn't an identical display you likely damaged your onboard video card. Even if they were an exact match plugging the cable in to the motherboard header with the laptop powered up likely damaged the electronics. Unplug the power pack, remove the battery and depress and hold the power button for about 10 seconds. Then put the battery back in and plug it back in and see if it powers up.

alphanumeric already explained it...I'm sorry, but plugging the other screen in with the power on was a really bad idea.
Most likely now you're not looking at $100 for a new screen, but money for an entire new laptop. Sorry...
