GTA IV full graphic memory not displayed

So I recently bought GTA IV a friend of mine told me that the minimum graphic memory to run it is around 256MB so as I have 353 MB I decided to give it a try. The entire installation process went on smoothly and when I run the game everything works ok but after the loading process when the cutscene starts the graphics become very horrible. When I checked out the graphics tab it showed me that I was using 256/60 MB. As far as I know my graphic memory is 383 and another surprising fact is that when you over-ride the memory in this game it actually turns the color of the font red(256/60 MB text. When normal green in color) but the color was green. I even tried increasing the setting but it didn't allow me to increase it. Here are my graphic specification

Name: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
    Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
    DAC Type: Internal
    Approx Total Memory: 353 MB
    Current Display Mode: 1280x800 (32bit) (60Hz)
    Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor.

One more question has anyone run this game in this graphics? I mean in 353 MB and is everything clear in the game?

    Thank You

Intel has not ever made graphics that will even come close to running GTA4.....The game only uses part of the available memory...Then it shows up in green....When you go over recommend setting it goes red...the extra acts as a buffer...(don't wants any freeze-up when the shooting starts:))

All graphics memory does is store the unfinished drawings....that does not help if it can't draw fast enough.....

Well after some research I get to know about this...I think I need a new card. Want a good one that can run games like GTA IV smoothly and also doesn't burn a hole in my pocket

Your spec's show your system to be a laptop....a few company's started to make add on graphics for laptops....However nothing came if it....So as of now upgrading laptop graphics is impossible......

If you had a desktop, I could make a few suggestions....but we would have the hole in the pocket thing:).....Even with my spec's I'm not 100% happy with the way it runs.......

Well you definitely are going to get annoyed when you take a look at my desktop specs..It's barely P4 with 1.21 gig of RAM( after a 1Gig Update,256Mb initially) 250GB HDD not bad,Running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Windows XP Proffesional(quit XP due to some virus issues) so the fact is do you think it would be worth buying one of those AMD Radeon 6000's and would the card ever work on such a PC? Well the manufacturer is Zenith and I bought it in 03's (lol 2003) it was great during that time but now it's scrap . :) So coming back do you think I can install one of those GPU's that I mentioned before on this PC and the motherboard I think is of a company which is already bankrupt(MAXDATA).

The problem is not so much if the card will work....The main problem is the cpu, you need a dual core....I know newegg does not deliver to India but here is a run down of what you need
    Newegg.com - AMD A4-3300 Llano 2.5GHz Socket FM1 65W Dual-Core Desktop APU with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 6410D AD3300OJGXBOX
    Newegg.com - ASRock A55M-HVS FM1 AMD A55 (Hudson D2) HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
    Newegg.com - Ballistix sport 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model BL25664BA1339

You will also need a power supply....use punksters list and don't get any of the low quality units https://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-c...ead-first.html

This Cpu has a built in 6410 graphics....it might be enough to get by...if not there is a 16x pcie slot on the motherboard, and the built in graphic will work with a 6XXX series card.....Just be sure to get a power supply with enough wattage:)

Huh..Well it's a little difficult to see the PSU output thing as it's located near a lot of wires and is very small will have to take some time to look at the rating. Where it coms to buying a new CPU I am planning to upgrade the PC probably in 5 months and It's definitely going to be 'i' range of some Intel processors and the motherboard might surely support a DDR3+ memory so after that upgrade I might buy a nViDIA 440 1GB card..That's it.

That was the gap in time before I upgraded to the point that I could stand to play it....Off the boat is the first achievement.....warm coffee is a few missions later......
