8800 gtx could be almost dead bsod gtx 560ti (upgrade)???

I have 2 x 8800gtx xxx edition and I would have them stuffed if they where real pets they where expensive but have been great value as computer parts go...!!!

One has recently died so my sli setup is gone but it is handy to have a card to fall back on but now it seems my last card is bsod allot im in the process of investigating....

I can still play all games at good visuals even with the one card but if its the cause of bsod then its gotta go...
I was planning upgrade anyway as its my 40th and I got the doh !

I do not want to regret buying a decent card so I need help...

1.I was real close to buying gtx580 a year ago and now and they seem more expensive so its very possible i could regret buying one especially being a year old...

2.I am considering a 560ti golden sample but i have seen older series cards i.e 7600 and if i compare to a 7800 theres no comparison I mean the last 2 digits are what im interested in (all the stats of 560 to a 580 please tell me if its just a gimmick)
TELL ME THAT THE 560TI CANT LIVE WITH 580 or tell me to buy 570 im soooo confused !!!

3.Considering Ive had over 5 years out of my 8800 Im obviously into long life useage

    4.Is buying a lesser card i.e 560ti and a ssd card a good plan?

5.The ps3 lying on my desk unused is also an option?

any advice greatly appreciated and im happy to give more info on my rig and the 8800 which im still trying to rectify Im paranoid i buy new card and its some other component

The 580 is the fastest single gpu around so its not just numbers.

The 560 wouldn't be my first choice, I'd tend to get the 570 as its a middle/high end card, and its comparable to my ati hd 6950 2gb model.

I went from an 8800gtx to my 6950 and its like night and day. I can max out bf3 with full AA @1080pm.

Now buying a 5** anything will offer little in the way of future proofing. As nobody knows what tomorrow will bring. My 6950 cost me £220, which is far cheaper than my 8800 and in the same relm of performance in todays tech

Yeah I was about to get a 6970 but read I could maybe up the bios on 6950 so I used the difference on an ssd card....think I done right thing as nvidia seem to get all the reviews in the pc mag I get but Internet seems fairer towards both amd and nvidia so atleast I'm tryin sumik different and at the end of the day thats why I got mobo that supports both.....I apreciate you pointing me in the right direction ...cheers !!
