Hello Kudoz, and welcome to Sevenforums.

I hope I may offer some kind of solution to your problem. I doubt it is an OS problem, but let us troubleshoot it and see where that takes us. When you say you put your computer into standby mode, do you mean sleep mode, or do you mean hibernation? I do not think Windows 7 has a "Standby Mode" unless you are referring to one of the aforementioned modes. Do both monitors work when you restart (or shut down/turn on) the computer?

Have you installed the lastest updates from Windows Update? If you need updated drivers, please fill out your specs according to the following method, as I am not entirely sure what some of the items you have listed in your System Specs are at the moment:
New to SevenForums? Fill out your system specs (this tool may help you out a great deal).

Would you mind disabling hybrid sleep mode and seeing if sleep mode works on its own? Follow this tutorial but disable anything that mentions hibernate or hybrid sleep. also, to see the available sleep states on your computer, follow this tutorial. Post back what you find.

Also what is the model of the second monitor, i have a NVidia gts 250 and my main monitor is in the dvi plug and second monitor is plugged into the vga plug and they just work. Not sure what you have on the 440, but should be comparible, either 2 dvi or 1 dvi and 1 vga. Do you have the latest drivers from NVidia 285.62.

    Kudoz,

You can still use sleep mode this way, it just won't be hybrid sleep. There usually isn't a need to save your session to the hard drive (Hybernate) & put the computer into a low powered state (Sleep). I would choose one or the other (Hybrid combines both).

Would you try it to see if this may be the problem you're having? It may help me understand the problem more if you do. You can always switch back to hybrid if you are still having problems
